Whakatane residents frustrated over flooding

9:41 am on 30 June 2011

Whakatane residents are frustrated over what they say is the local council's lack of action in addressing flooding problems.

About 200 residents turned up to a meeting hosted by the Whakatane District Council on Wednesday night where council staff gave a presentation about the stormwater system.

Resident Rhonda Connor says her neighbours are frustrated because the council has not done anything to stop the flooding and the meeting did not really answer any of her questions.

Mayor Tony Bonne says frustrations raised will hopefully be addressed in a study being worked on in conjunction with the Bay of Plenty Regional Council.
