A cross country skier has been rescued by helicopter from the Red Hills in the Richmond Forest Park south of Nelson.
A spokesperson for the Summit Rescue Helicopter says the skier was suffering from exhaustion and would not have been able to finish the complete traverse of the Red Hills before nightfall.
The Tasman Search and Rescue base in Nelson dispatched the helicopter to airlift the skier and their ski-ing companion of the hills.
