New Hobsonville motorway in use

11:34 am on 7 August 2011

The first vehicles have crossed the new Hobsonville motorway in Auckland.

The $220-million, 9km route opened to traffic at 3.30am on Sunday - six months ahead of schedule.

The Hobsonville motorway forms part of the 48km western ring route, which is an alternative to State Highway One between Manukau and Albany.

The Transport Agency says people should expect delays getting onto the northwestern motorway on Monday morning and near Constellation Drive in the afternoon.
