Search to resume for kayaker on Friday

6:07 pm on 11 August 2011

The search for a kayaker missing in Wellington harbour will resume on Friday morning.

Cameron Peter Miller, 19, of Hamilton had been kayaking toward Ward Island with his partner from Lower Hutt when both were tipped into the water on Wednesday.

His partner made it ashore and raised the alarm just after 6pm.

The man's kayak was found washed up on the shore that evening, about 6km from Ward Island, and the rucksack and paddle were recovered from the channel at Point Halswell on Thursday.

A shoreline search from Eastbourne to Pencarrow, including Worser Bay and Breaker Bay has finished. A marine and aerial search has also been completed.

Police say they will analyse information gathered so far to work out what searches will continue on Friday.
