A 38-year-old man has appeared in the Dannevirke District Court charged with cultivating more than 300 cannabis plants.
Detective Sergeant Graham Perks says this follows a search of a house in the town where the police found plants in varying stages of maturity in two specially modified rooms.
He says it's the second time in less than a week police have discovered a significant indoor cannabis growing operation in the district.
Mr Perks says police discovered more than 850 seedlings and mature plants in a garage on a property south of the town on 28 October.
He estimates that if the plants had all grown to maturity they could have been worth as much as $2 million.
