Homicide investigators continue forensic work

12:46 pm on 16 November 2011

Police say they expect to be at the property where a Christchurch schoolgirl died until the end of the week.

Jade Bayliss, 13, was found dead in her burnt out home in the suburb of Somerfield last Thursday.

Jeremy McLaughlin, 34, has been charged with her murder and the arson and burglary of her home.

The teenager's body has been returned to her family so funeral arrangements can be made.

Police say they are still gathering forensic evidence at the Barrington Street property.

They say determining the cause of death is now a matter for the coroner.
