Power cut in Christchurch

Power has been restored to several thousand homes in north-east Christchurch.
Approximately 13,000 homes lost power just before 4.30pm after a bird flew into the high voltage power lines on Thursday.
The lines supply power to Orion's major substation in Rawhiti Domain which was set up following the earthquake on 22 February 2011.
The affected areas include New Brighton, Queenspark and Bexley.
