More strikes planned at Ports of Auckland

Updated at 8:33 pm on 9 February 2012

The Martime Union has placed notice of its longest planned industrial action on Ports of Auckland.

Union members will strike for seven days from 24 February as part of a long-running dispute with Ports of Auckland.

The Martime Union has already issued notice for a partial five day strike starting on 15 February.

Ports of Auckland chief executive Tony Gibson says the union's repeated strike actions are a roadblock to progress.

He says the company will continue to consult over its proposal to contract out labour at the container terminal.

Both parties are due to go back to mediation on Friday.
