England struggles before beating Georgia

8:28 pm on 18 September 2011

England overcame poor discipline, a lack of possession and a determined effort by Georgia to record an unconvincing 41-10 bonus point victory in Dunedin on Sunday.

Georgia enjoyed long periods of possession and territory but first five eight Merab Kvirikashvili had a poor day, making just two of seven kicks at goal.

England centre Shontayne Hape crossed for two first-half tries with Chris Ashton scoring twice, fellow wing Delon Armitage and centre Manu Tuilagi once in the second period to make sure of the four-try bonus point.

Georgia's efforts were rewarded with a try by number eight Dimitri Basilaia just before halftime after England hooker Dylan Hartley was sent to the sin bin.
