Ravensdown aims for minimal disruption after fire

Ravensdown Fertiliser company hopes there will be minimal disruption for customers in Hawke's Bay, after a fire destroyed part of a fertiliser storage facility.

More than 40 firefighters took about an hour on Tuesday to extinguish a blaze in the storage building on the northern outskirts of Napier.

Ravensdown spokesperson Gareth Richards says it was a serious incident and it was fortunate none of the seven staff were injured.

He says the store is made of three parts and there is a bulk store area where piles of rocks, minerals and fertiliser are kept as well as an office and a bag store area.

Mr Richards says the office and the bag store are not damaged at all as it was the bulk storage area where the fire took place.

He says staff will be making arrangements on Wednesday with customers about when orders can be delivered or picked up.
