Two farm industry groups responsible for managing diseases in New Zealand livestock are about to join FarmsOnline, a national farm database.
The Ministry for Primary Industries database provides a current list of farm contacts, so there can be a fast effective response if there's an outbreak of exotic disease.
Both Ovis Management Ltd and Johne's Management Ltd will share their contact details with the database from September.
Farmers will receive a letter in the next few weeks and can choose not to have their details included in the database.
