Fonterra says more than half the country's primary schools have now enquired about signing up for its Milk for Schools scheme.
Milk For Schools offers students in Years One - Six at participating schools a free serving of milk each school day of the year.
The programme is being rolled out nationwide after Fonterra ran a pilot project in Northland 2012 during which it sorted out the logistics of the scheme.
Southland will be the next region to be brought on board, followed by Christchurch a few weeks later.
Fonterra says all New Zealand schools who wish to take part will be getting their milk by the end of Term 1 in 2014.
