A team of five New Zealand shearers has established a new world record for lamb shearing.
They shore 2638 lambs in eight hours and it will be registered as the first official five-stand lamb shearing record.
Husband and wife shearers Sam and Emily Welch organised the record bid with a big crowd of helpers and it took place in a woolshed near Clevedon, south of Auckland on Tuesday.
Ms Welch says the team was pretty happy with the final tally which was confirmed by a panel of judges.
The top individual tally was claimed by Angus Moore, who shore 607 lambs.
Tallies for the others ranged from 573 to 449.
