Taranaki farmers not out of woods yet

The drought has broken in Taranaki, with up to 200mm of rain having fallen in the region during the past week. But farmers there are not out of trouble yet.

South Taranaki was officially declared a drought zone in April.

Although significant rain has now fallen, the Rural Support Trust says further problems could arise.

Chairman Peter Adamski says farmers will have to build up feed levels for spring and any cold spells in the next few weeks would slow grass growth.
