Wool comes to town, with shearing and pet lambs

An international campaign promoting wool was launched on Friday with public demonstrations of shearing and sheep in the centre of Wellington.

The Campaign for Wool says as Western economies come out of recession, they have created new demand for wool and other commodities.

The international campaign for wool was started by Prince Charles last year to keep up the momentum, and the price of some types of wool has doubled in the past six months.

The New Zealand campaign kicked off in Wellington with public displays of shearing at Midland Park and the railway station, while pet lambs were trotted up Lambton Quay.
