Saturated paddocks pose challenges

Winter storms in the upper North Island have caught dairy farmers in the middle of calving.

Auckland Federated Farmers president Wendy Clark, who's in the Franklin district, says conditions are so wet she's had to search for emergency grazing for cows that can't stay in the saturated paddocks set aside for calving.

She says the rain came six weeks early and conditions are very challenging.
