The Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard has apologised after being sent off for kicking a ball boy boy during Chelsea's League Cup semi-final second leg at Swansea City.

The match finished at nill all, giving Swansea a 2-nil aggregate win, but the game was overshadowed by an incident 10 minutes from fulltime when Hazard was sent off for an altercation with a ball boy.

Police say they will will investigate the incident, but Swansea says the boy had told police he did not want to press charges.

Chelsea's interim manager Rafael Benitez initially said the ball boy was wasting time, but reacted angrily to claims he had condoned Hazard's behaviour.

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup dismissed suggestions the club had instructed their ball boys to waste time by holding onto the ball when it went out of play.

Swansea will play fourth-tier Bradford City in the final at Wembley next month.

Meanwhile four goals in twelve minutes has helped Arsenal to a 5-1 win over West Ham in their Premier League match.

The result helps Arsenal close the gap on the Champions League positions after successive losses to Manchester City and Chelsea.

Arsenal remain in sixth place but but are now one point behind Everton and four behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

West Ham, with just one one league win in their last eight games, remain 12th.
