Carlos Tevez has kept Manchester City's faint English Premier League football title hopes alive as the Argentine striker scored the only goal in his side's 1-0 win at struggling Aston Villa on Monday.

City are now back within 12 points of leaders Manchester United, but City are still a long-shot to retain the Premier League crown they won last season.

United, who were eliminated from the Champions League last 16 by Real Madrid in Wednesday's second leg, still look unstoppable in pursuit of a 20th English title with 71 points.

With 10 games left to play City have 59 points and Tottenham Hotspur are third on 54.

Villa remain in the bottom three relegation zone, with goal difference keeping them below 17th-placed Wigan in the battle for survival.
