Kerikeri High School has won the secondary school sailing team national championships held at Lake Taupo, ahead of Tauranga Boys' College and Mahurangi College.

Around 230 sailors competed in 29 teams from schools as far afield as Kerikeri in the north and Timaru in the south in five days of intense racing on Taupo for the annual national regatta.

Conditions were mixed with winds ranging from heavy on the first day to light on Friday. Match races of around five to 10 minutes were contested between two teams of three boats over a series of three round robins.
