Indycar champion Scott Dixon has failed to finish the first race of the new season.
Dixon made contact with another car while trying to overtake with 20 laps remaining in the Grand Prix of St Petersburgh in Florida.... he was running in 11th position at the time.
Dixon had started 8th on the grid, but had slipped to 16th after a poor pit stop... he was making his move up the field when the accident happened.
Australian Ryan Briscoe won the race.
The second round is in Long Beach, California in a fortnight.
