A mammoth last ditch win, which earned her team 19 differential points, has given gave Manawatu's Fran Frith a dramatic come-from-behind win at the national club women's triples bowls champs in Rotorua.
The men's title went Vern Marshall from the Kahutia club in Gisborne-East Coast, after his combination recorded a clean sweep of five wins.
Frith, and team-mates Sheryn Blake and Bev Budd, were helped to the title when Marie Watson's United team from Nelson snatched a narrow 16 - 14 win over Doreen Schumacher from Hillcrest, which allowed Frith to sneak past to collect the title.
Frith's win is the second for the Manawatu centre, with Feona Sayles winning the women's singles earlier in the week.
