The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic have rebounded from their surprise loss in Queensland to edge the Canterbury Tactix 50-48 at the start of round five in netball's trans-Tasman championship.

The Magic led by four after the first quarter and 3 at half time in Christchurch before the Tactix levelled at 44-all with six minutes to go.

It was goal for goal after that until the last minute when Tactix hesitancy in the shooting circle enabled the Magic's goal keep Casey Williams to make a vital intercept.

When the ball reached the other end Irene van Dyk scored to give the Magic their fourth win.
