Wilkens in top form for Steel

The former Silver Fern Donna Wilkens was in dominant form for the Southern Steel shooting at 95 percent in their 61-52 win over the Northern Mystics in Auckland at the end of round six in netball's trans-Tasman Championship.

Wilkens landed 35 of her 37 shots from goal attack, compared with goal shoot Daneka Wipiiti's 26 from 34 .

The Steel led by three after the third quarter but pulled away in the last 17-11.

The win briefly took them to fourth but the Queensland Firebirds moved into the top four after a thrilling 56-53 comeback victory over the West Coast Fever in Brisbane.

The only unbeaten side, the Melbourne Vixens,. have 10 points and have a game in hand over the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic who're also on 10, two clear of the Adelaide Thunderbirds .

The Firebirds, Steel and Fever are on six, two clear of the New South Wales Swifts and the Mystics with the Canterbury Tactix on two and the Central Pulse still to win,
