West Indies have advanced to the Twenty20 cricket World Cup semi-finals after knocking out England in a rain reduced second-round match at the Oval in London.

Ramnaresh Sarwan and Shivnarine Chanderpaul took the Windies to a new target of 80 from nine overs with five wickets and four balls to spare.

Sarwan made an unbeaten 19 with three fours from nine balls in a man of the match innings and Chanderpaul hit 17 from 10.

England made 161 for six in their 20 overs and had reduced West Indies to 45 for five from just over five overs before the veterans took control.
