Doe wins in Asia

8:03 am on 17 June 2009

The New Zealand triathlete Kieran Doe has won the Asian Long Distance Championships in South Korea.

Doe was a comprehensive winner in the event, clearing out on the swim and blitzing the field on the bike before coming home comfortably on the run to win by almost eight minutes.

It is a welcome and stunning return to the winners circle for Doe after having to withdraw from Ironman NZ in March with stomach problems. At the time he was unable to train for long periods, restricting his ability to cope with the longer Ironman distance of racing.

Meanwhile in the women's race Erin O'Hara was second with Gina Ferguson third.
