The New Zealand cyclist Hayden Roulston says he never gave up hope of someday riding in the sports greatest event.

The Olympic track silver medalist was yesterday confirmed in his Swiss Cervelo Test Team for next week's Tour de France, joining another New Zealander Julian Dean on the 3 week classic.

28-year-old Roulston was advised to give up riding in 2006 when he was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat, however he sought alternate treatment and has prospered ever since with success at last year's Beijing Olympics and now a ride in the Tour de France....

Roulston's team includes defending champion Carlos Sastre of Spain.
