Only two "old" world records remain after farcical swimming worlds

Only two world records set before the swimsuit revolution, which started in February last year, remain intact after a farcical 43 records were shattered at the just completed world championships in Rome.

They're the 1500 metres freestyle records of American Kate Ziegler and Australia's Grant Hackett, who set his eight years ago.

Swimming's world governing body declared during the Rome meeting the high-tech polyurethane suits will be banned from next January.
