8 men and 6 women have been selected in the New Zealand Alpine ski team.

The group is headed by Ben Griffin of Ohakune, who has recovered from a serious tramopline accident, and is hoping to be selected for the Vancouver Winter Olympics early next year.

Griffin, who is New Zealand's best ranked athlete in Super G and giant slalom, will need good performances in this month's Winter Games at Coronet Peak to enhance his chances of Olympic selection.

Griffin won the FIS giant slalom at Cadrona on Monday.
