Carter back in All Blacks

It was only a matter of time - Dan Carter is back in the All Blacks for the rest of the tri nations competition.

Carter has played a club game and two provincial matches for Canterbury since returning from the achilles injury he suffered while playing in France in January.

Given the All Blacks disappointing performances in his absence, coach Graham Henry was no doubt keen to get Carter back as soon as possible.

Henry says Carter's a key member of the squad and now's the right time to bring him back into the squad.

Carter will join the All Blacks in their one day training session in Auckland on Wednesday, with the side then assembling in Sydney on Sunday, for next week's Bledisloe Cup test against Australia in Sydney.

Carter is also set to play for Canterbury against Waikato on Friday night.

Otago lock Tom Donnelly's been called into the squad as cover for Bryn Evans, who withdrew from Hawkes Bay's match against Wellington at the weekend with back and leg pain.

All Blacks Doctor Deb Robinson says Evans will have a scan, so the longer term prognosis can be determined.

Wellington's Tamati Ellison, who has been with the squad as cover, will also attend the Auckland camp together with Isaia Toeava, who's recovering from a stress fracture in his foot.
