Tasmanian wicketkeeper Tim Paine will join the Australia squad as cover for injured reserve keeper Graham Manou before the fifth and final Ashes cricket Test against England starting at the Oval on Thursday evening.
Paine arrives in the next 24 hours as Australia face some challenging selection decisions, such as whether to play seamer Stuart Clark or spinner Nathan Hauritz as the fourth bowler in the match.
The Oval may have been the birthplace of the Ashes in 1882 but Australia have a worse record at the ground than at any other Test venue in England.
The tourists have only won six times in 34 matches with 13 draws, and Australia skipper Ricky Ponting says his 136th Test is the most important of his career.
