The Cleveland Indians centre fielder Grady Sizemore will miss the rest of the season to have arthroscopic surgery on his left elbow.
Sizemore, a three-time All-Star and twice American League Gold Glove Award winner, has been hampered by an inflamed elbow joint all year.
Sizemore, who has been hitting .248 with 18 home runs and 64 RBIs this season, was on the disabled list from May 31 to June 23.
No date has yet been set for his surgery.
