Jack back to boost locking stocks

As the national rugby team's lineout woes take the spotlight, former All Blacks lock Chris Jack's return to Tasman may be timely.

Jack's signed with the Makos with an eye on playing for the Crusaders in next year's Super 14 and on the 2011 world cup.

Tasman CEO Peter Barr says Jack won't be playing this season -- he has to have surgery on a hand injury sustained playing in the Currie Cup and it was never intended for him to play in 2009 -- but the return of the 67-Test veteran could help out on many levels....

If Jack returns to the Crusaders their locking stocks will be as full as their five-eighths resources, with current All Blacks Isaac Ross and Brad Thorn also at the franchise.
