The two Americans, facing each other across the net for the 22nd time in their glittering careers, provided 84 minutes of power tennis but there only ever looked like being one winner.
Serena, went to Doha ranked second in the world behind Dinara Safina but will return home as the rightful number one tomorrow.
Serena won 2 grand slam titles this year, the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
She picks up almost 2 million dollars for the win.
