All three games in the latest round of Plunket Shield matches are being played later in the day with the last session under lights.

Sodhi had no problems bowling last night, he took seven for 102 for Northern Districts against Central Districts in Hamilton - his second seven wicket haul in first class cricket.

However he had some issues in the field.

"I personally found it hard to figure out how far it was from my face when the ball was coming towards me, you think it is a little bit further away than it really is."

"It gets to you a bit quicker, I'm not sure what it's like for a batter, but it's all a bit unknown at the moment, so today was a nice little tester."

Central didn't lose a wicket in the first session, but Sodhi then picked up the first five to fall and he said he enjoyed bowling in the evening.

"Pretty stoked with the way the ball came out and to bowl 30 overs on the trot was a goal of mine, and the boys said they found it quite hard to pick if I bowled a lot of cross seam and so I focussed on trying to do that and changing it up as much as I could."

The Northern Districts batsmen also struggled under the lights on the opening day as they responded with 28 for 4 in reply to Central's first innings of 272 for 9.

Meanwhile, Wellington are 252 for 5, batting first against Otago in Wellington, and Canterbury are 305 for 8 batting first against Auckland at Eden Park.
