The Harbour Heat have continued their unbeaten start to the National Basketball League season with a 96-82 win over the Southland Sharks at the North Shore Events Centre on Sunday.
In Nelson, 29 points from Phil Jones helped the Giants to a 92-86 NBL basketball win over the Wellington Saints.
Micheal Harrison chimed in with 22 points while
Mika Vukona also performed strongly for last years' beaten finalists, picking up 10 points and nine rebounds.
In Dunedin the Otago Nuggets were soundly beaten by the Christchurch Cougars, losing
Jeremy Kench, with 25 points, and Paora Winitana, with 26, combined well to see the Catabrians home.
And in Te Awamutu last year's rookie and forward of the year Thomas Abercrombie led the defending champion Pistons to a 96-78 win over the Taranaki Mountainairs.
Abercrombie top-scored with 37 points and
was complimented by Eric Devendorf, who notched 25.
