Brent Tate to caprtain Warriors in Sydney

5:22 pm on 6 April 2010

Centre Brent Tate has become the Warriors' newest captain after confirmation a broken finger had ruled loose forward Micheal Luck out of Saturday night's fifth-round NRL clash against the Bulldogs in Sydney.

Tate learned of his elevation the same day his brother-in-law - and former Warriors captain - Steve Price announced he would retire at the end of the 2010 season.

With the captain Simon Mannering sidelined with a hamstring injury, Tate becomes the third player to lead the side in the first five games of the 2010 campaign.

Without Luck and Mannering the Warriors will field field one of their least-experienced forward packs.

Prop Sam Rapiran is the most experienced with 90 games while back rower Jacob Lillyman has 88.

Apart from Luck, Mannering and Price, others still injured include winger Manu Vatuvei and first-choice halfback Brett Seymour.
