Giteau facing suspension for abusing ref

The Brumbies first five Matt Giteau is facing suspension and a hefty fine for criticising referee Steve Walsh after his side's crucial Super 14 rugby loss to the Waratahs in Sydney at the weekend.

The Brumbies were fuming over a decision by Walsh to disallow a try in their 19-12 loss and it's understood they've appealed to the SANZAR referees boss Lyndon Bray to have Walsh stood down from their crucial game this weekend against the Reds in Canberra.

But it's Giteau who could miss the next match after suggesting there would be no point turning up against the Reds on Saturday if Walsh was not stood down.
