Mystics beat Pulse in extra time

6:00 am on 18 May 2010

The Central Pulse have been denied their first win of the trans-Tasman netball season by a perfect shooting night from the Northern Mystics Cathrine Latu.

The Mystics won the match in Auckland 61-60 in extra time after the scores were locked at 51-all after regulation time.

The Pulse looked like pulling off one of the upsets of the season, holding a five goal lead in the fourth quarter, the first time they have held the lead in the final stanza of a match this season.

However the Mystics fought back to force extra time and thanks to Latu, who shot 41 from 41, they clinched their 5th win of the season to be 5th on the table.

The Pulse captain Jane Altschwager says they're devastated, but she's immensely proud of her players, who fought all the way to the end.

Meanwhile in last night's other match the unbeaten New South Wales Swifts beat the Queensland Firebirds 44-40.
