Australian netball coach drops experienced defender

Australia's netball coach Norma Plummer has dropped the experienced defender Bianca Chatfield from her squad of 15 for the upcoming series against Jamaica and New Zealand.

The Melbourne Vixens star has missed out to the Queensland Firebird Amy Steel, who is in line to make her international debut next month.

But the squad is certainly not lacking in experience with Sharelle McMahon, Mo'onia Gerrard, Catherine Cox and Natalie von Bertouch also selected.

Australia has a three-Test series against Jamaica starting in Melbourne on August 8 before taking on New Zealand in Adelaide on August 29.

The rest of the squad: Kate Beveridge, Madison Browne, Rebecca Bulley, Catherine Cox, Susan Fuhrmann, Laura Geitz, Kimberlee Green, Renae Hallinan, Lauren Nourse and Susan Pratley.
