More than two million people follow the NBA basketball competition on Twitter, a record for any United States sport league on the social networking site.
NBA followers push the league ahead of the NFL which has almost 1.7 million followers on Twitter.
The NBA set a record for tweets per second during game seven of June's NBA Finals, won by the Los Angeles Lakers over the Boston Celtics, with 3,085 tweets per second at one stage on the site.
The NBA also ranks as the top sport's league on Facebook and YouTube.
