Wellington remain on top of the national rugby championship with a perfect 15 points from 15 following their third straight bonus point win, over Counties Manukau on Friday.

Bay of Plenty have also won three from three and are second on 14 points.

Canterbury are third with 10 points while Southland in fourth are joined on nine points by Otago and Tasman, who upset Taranaki in Nelson on Sunday.

There's a logjam at the other end of the table with Counties propping up the bottom on points difference, but joined on four points by the unlikely quartet of Auckland, Taranaki, Waikato and North Harbour.
