Red Bull blame tyre issues for poor form

11:00 am on 2 September 2008

The Red Bull Formula One team has blamed tyre problems as the main factor behind its recent poor form but is confident of being back in the points at this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix.

Renault-powered Red Bull has not scored a point in the last four races and is sixth overall, with six grands prix remaining.

Team boss Christian Horner says in the last couple of months Toyota has looked very strong tyre-wise in higher temperatures.

Horner says It's not a case of rivals suddenly finding more performance.

He says it's down to tyre usage and Toyota has handled that more successfully.

Red Bull started well with its Australian driver Mark Webber scoring points for five races in a row.

However Toyota has scored 32 from its last six races to Red Bull's nine.
