Breakers beat Wildcats

The New Zealand Breakers have beaten the Perth Wildcats 108-94 to keep pressure on the Australian National Basketball League leaders the South Dragons.

The Breakers trailled the Wildcats at half time on the North Shore, but a big second half effort saw them home for a win that looked unlikely after the first 12 minutes.

Guards Phill Jones and CJ Bruton scored 22 points each while Oscar Forman had 19 and Rick Rickert had 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Breakers coach Andrej Lemanis was pleased his players had been quick to face up to their lethargic start and fix their own inaccuracies.

He says at half-time, the players basically addressed everything themselves, they knew what they needed to do defensively and then they set about doing it - the group showed a lot of pride.

The Breakers have the same number of wins as the Dragons (12 and 3) but are behind them on the points table on percentage points.
