Lewis Hamilton has taken the lead in the world drivers championship after winning an incident-packed Belgian Grand Prix.

Hamilton led from the start and controlled the race through two safety car periods and some perilous weather conditions.

Hamilton rode his luck when he had to, finishing 1.5 seconds ahead of Mark Webber, and third place went to Renault's Robert Kubica who cost himself a higher finish with a bungled pit stop when he locked-up his wheels and slid into a mechanic.

Hamilton leads the world championship by three points from Mark Webber, with abother 28 points back to third-placed Sebastian Vettel who failed to score after taking out the luckless Jenson Button in a controversial accident after 16 laps.
