Artificial greens in Delhi set to test bowls players

The only member of the Commonwealth Games bowls team to bring back a medal from Melbourne four years ago says the artificial greens in Delhi will challenge players' patience and stamina.

Jan Khan - the 2006 pairs bronze medallist with her sister Marina - played in Delhi in April and says the synthetic surface is a lot heavier than grass and a lot slower.

She says the games greens run at about 10 seconds, compared with 18 to 20 seconds on the grass surfaces she's used to in Christchurch.

Khan says one plus of playing next month will be temperatures in the mid-30s compared with mid-40s in April.
