The New Zealand tennis player Rubin Statham has progressed to the second round of singles at the Delhi Commonwealth Games, beating Hayden Lewis of Barbados in straight sets.
In the second round 6th seeded Statham will face Scotland's Colin Fleming.
Fleming is considered a doubles specialist, choosing to concentrate on doubles on the ATP Tour since last year and is currently ranked 64 in the ATP Doubles rankings.
In the Women's Singles, New Zealand based Brittany Teei, who is representing the Cook Island's in Delhi, has won her first round match against Aminath Solih of Maldives.
