City send Hawke's Bay packing

Auckland City's thrashed Hawke's Bay United 5-0 in their national domestic Premiership football match at Kiwitea Street.

Adam McGeorge scored early for a half-time 1-0 lead to the home side, also adding a late penalty when Marama Thompson was sent off with four minutes of regular time remaining.

Stu Kelly and Andrew Milne got the other goals for Auckland in a three-minute burst in the 73rd and 76th minutes.

The win sees City leapfrog Team Wellington into second place, still six points behind runaway leaders and crosstown rivals Waitakere United, who play at Canterbury United on Sunday.
