Vettori still adamant he'll stand down as captain

The New Zealand cricket captain Daniel Vettori says he still plans to step down as skipper after the conclusion of the World Cup in April despite the Black Caps struggling for form and playing under a new coach.

On John Wright's first night in charge the Black Caps finally recaptured the winning feeling, beating Pakistan by five wickets at Eden Park in the first of three Twenty20 matches against the tourists, but the victory was small consolation after the two recent one-day series whitewashes at the hands of India and Bangladesh.

Vettori, who is resting a sore back for the 20/20 series, knows they have a long row to hoe before they can be considered a serious challenger for the World Cup, but he still intends to step down after the tournament.
