German on top of golf rankings

6:59 am on 1 March 2011

The German golfer Martyn Kymer is the new world number one at the top of a Europe-dominated rankings list.

26 year old Kaymer displaced England's Lee Westwood when he made yesterday's final of the Accenture World Matchplay Championship in Arizona, and the winner of that title, Englishman Luke Donald has jumped up to number three in the world.

With Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell next on the list, the top four in the world are all from Europe, which hasn't happened since 1992.

Tiger Woods has dropped two more places to number five.
