The New Zealand tennis team has won both reverse singles against Uzbekistan in the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group one tie salvaging some pride and narrowing the final result to 3-2 to Uzbekistan.
Both teams changed their line ups for the dead rubber reverse singles with Uzbekistan having already wrapped up the tie 3-nil.
New Zealand's Michael Venus replaced Rubin Statham in the reverse singles, but kept Artem Sitak in the line up.
Uzbekistan replaced Denis Istomin and Farrukh Dustov with Murad Inoyatov and Vaja Uzakov.
Sitak and Inoyatov were on court first with Sitak starting off strong winning the first set 6-1, however the next set was tight with Inoyatov taking the second in a tiebreak.
Sitak then came back to win the third set 6-3 to give New Zealand their first rubber of the Tie.
Venus followed directly after and took little time to dispatch Uzbekistan's Vaja Uzakov winning in straight sets 6-3 6-love.
New Zealand's next Tie is scheduled for July the 8th-10th against Philippines in New Zealand.
The last time these two nations met was in 2009 in Manila, with Philippines winning 4-1.
